The Department of Arabic Language was established in the Faculty of Fundamentals of Religion, which was affiliated to Al-Balqa Applied University, and after the establishment of the World Islamic Sciences University in the year 2008/2009, the department became an independent faculty “under the name of the “Faculty of Arabic Language.” Then it became an independent department affiliated to the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Educational Sciences, which is now affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, which has become an independent faculty since the beginning of the academic year 2013/2014.
-Teaching the Arabic language and its literature in line with the message of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in which the Arabic language is an official language of the country.
- Pride in and preservation of the Arabic language, awareness of its advantages, and a rational perception of the status and appreciation that should be given to it.
-Graduating students specialized in Arabic language and literature, equipped with the ability to enter the field of work, by achieving cognitive, performance and educational skills in the field of specialization.
-Active participation in improving the quality of academic life in the faculty and university, by participating in various cultural and academic activities and committees.
-Familiarizing students with their past, present, and future, by enabling them to study various literary texts.
-Building bridges of communication with other departments in Jordanian and Arab universities, by preparing for various conferences and seminars.
-Providing students with the necessary language skills to enrich their intellectual, cultural, and artistic outcomes.
-Refining students' critical and creative thinking skills.
-Developing students' abilities to conduct theoretical and applied research in their fields of specialization.
The department grants the following academic degrees:
Bachelor's degree in Arabic language and literature.
Master's degree: in Arabic language and literature. It includes two tracks:
The first: Thesis.
The second: The Comprehensive Exam. ·
PhD in literary and critical studies. ·
PhD in linguistic studies
