The establishment of the center

 

The establishment of the center The Language Center at the World Islamic Sciences & Education University was established in 2010 by the Deans’ Council decision issued in 2010 AD.

 

Center tasks:

• 1. Teaching English language courses (English 1 and English 2) to postgraduate students; to enable them to conduct research and review international educational literature in their respective specializations. The Center also teaches compulsory university requirements (Arabic 1 and English 1), and remedial courses for undergraduate and diploma students who have failed the placement tests in Arabic and English (Arabic 99 and English 99). Furthermore, it teaches the compulsory university requirements for diploma students (Communication Skills in English and Language Skills/English), with the aim of raising students' proficiency in these two languages to a level where they can compensate for any missing fundamental language skills.
• 2. Continuously reviewing the master plans for the subjects taught at the Center to keep pace with new scientific and educational developments.
• 3. Administering placement tests for the Arabic and English subjects for new students.
• 4. Coordinating with the University's Consultation Center to hold:  TOEFL exam preparation courses in English.  Specialized courses in Arabic (Writing, Reading, Conversation, Grammar, and Morphology).  Diverse English language courses for different levels, aimed at developing participants' skills in all language-related areas such as conversation, grammar, writing techniques, and other linguistic aspects.  Courses in other foreign languages, such as French and German. Participants will be awarded a certificate describing the nature of the course and their level, provided it does not conflict with the University's regulations and instructions.
• 5. Coordinating with the University's Consultation Center to hold specialized training diplomas in the fields of English, Arabic, and other foreign languages.
• 6. Developing the skills of faculty members in integrating e-learning through coordination with the Consultation Center to hold specialized courses for them, aiming to enhance the educational and technical level. This includes following up on educational materials, content, assignments, files, and recorded lectures through programs such as:
  1. E-learning
  2. Microsoft teams
  3. Zoom

• 7. Supervising the preparation of a specialized question bank for each of the Language Center's subjects and overseeing the examinations for these subjects and their proctoring through the Arabic and English language sections.
• 8. Supervising the placement tests in Arabic and English for the Bachelor's and Diploma levels, according to the instructions available on this website.

Objectives of the Center

•  The Language Center seeks to raise the level of university students in the basic skills of both Arabic and English (Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening) and to master these skills in a way that enables them to formulate, apply, and convey their ideas to recipients in the most correct and effective ways.
•  It aims to promote openness to other cultures by equipping students with skills in using other modern languages to benefit from the knowledge of others and communicate with them in various fields.
•  Improving students' level in both Arabic and English, as well as other foreign languages, so they can pursue the requirements of their studies at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
•  Holding more training diplomas and specialized courses in Arabic, English, and other foreign languages.
