Introduction:
The Department of English Language and Literature was established in the academic year 2010/2011 with the aim of giving students excellent communication and leadership skills and a high mastery of English language and literature through the study plan that includes studies in language, literature, linguistics and translation with the continuity of developing the study plan and the materials offered to meet the needs of the labor market. The department also aims to meet the demands of Jordanian society by providing qualified staffs to teach English language and literature in an effort to provide the Islamic and Arab world with a group of scholars who are able to spread the true picture of Islam and Muslims as a contribution to the Islamic civilization project. The department is keen that the faculty members have a high level of competence and scientific ability. There are currently (8) qualified faculty members in the department in various specializations in the English language, with ranks ranging from professor, associate professor, assistant professor, and lecturer. The department seeks to provide all that is useful for students to enrich the educational process by taking advantage of modern technologies in the language and translation laboratory to help them develop their various language skills such as listening, speaking and writing. The department grants a bachelor's degree in English language and literature and aspires to develop a master's program in linguistics and translation in the coming years, God willing.
