The Faculty of Islamic Arts and Architecture was established at the beginning of the 1998/1999 academic year under the name "Institute of Traditional Islamic Arts", and was then affiliated with Al-Balqa Applied University. In 2008, with the establishment of the World Islamic Sciences and Education University (WISE University), the institute became one of its main faculties and adopted its current name, "Faculty of Islamic Arts and Architecture."

The faculty is considered the first specialized academic institution in the Arab world and the Middle East dedicated to teaching Islamic arts through a comprehensive scientific approach that integrates both theoretical and practical aspects. This approach aims to establish a deep understanding of the foundations of Islamic arts, their intellectual sources, aesthetic philosophy, and their place within the Islamic knowledge heritage, while also developing practical skills for applying these arts and adapting them to contemporary professional contexts. The faculty includes a specialized academic department known as the Department of Islamic Arts, which offers a Bachelor’s Degree in Islamic and Applied Arts with two main concentrations:

Interior Design Concentration

The Faculty is staffed by a distinguished group of professors and specialists in Islamic arts and architecture, who are distinguished by their academic and artistic reputations at the local and international levels in the fields of scientific research, teaching, and artistic production.

The Faculty prepares its graduates for careers that meet the needs of local, Arab, and Islamic labor markets, including the design and implementation of interior and exterior architectural decorative elements, employment in interior design, and decoration firms, the practice of traditional crafts and artistic production, providing educational and training courses, and specialized teaching in the field of Islamic arts.

Vision

To revive the arts of the Islamic world and the skills of interior design, raise awareness among younger generations of the value of their culture and civilization, contribute to the restoration of its prosperity, and enhance awareness of the economic importance and social necessity of the arts as an essential aspect of life.

Mission

To establish a specialized reference center in applied Islamic arts and traditional crafts that serves young generations within a creative university environment, helping them discover their latent creative abilities and acquire the skills and knowledge required to work on projects with an Islamic character. This will contribute to restoring cultural leadership and civilizational excellence through the achievement of the following objectives:

This aims to create opportunities for youth specializing in Islamic arts, particularly in fields such as architecture and interior design.

2. Prepare students for the labor market through academic study (both theoretical and practical), introducing them to the foundations of Islamic artistic craftsmanship and its design applications, while harmonizing traditional artistic principles and customs with modern technological techniques to create practical opportunities suited to contemporary needs.

3. Establish a strong academic foundation in traditional Islamic arts, architecture, and interior design through its scientific and methodological study, while enhancing students' scholarly and professional capabilities by providing a stimulating educational environment based on traditional principles and techniques. This is achieved through lectures, practical workshops, and individualized student supervision.

4. Achieve excellence in academic, artistic, and administrative practices in accordance with accreditation and quality assurance standards, with the aim of positioning the Faculty competitively at the regional and international levels. This is accomplished by creating a sustainable environment and fostering socio-economic stability through the development of students’ and graduates’ technical and research skills, thereby generating distinguished employment opportunities.

5. Provide community service and promote awareness of the importance of Islamic arts within local and regional communities, thereby strengthening the university’s role in serving and developing society creatively and contributing practical solutions to challenges facing traditional arts and crafts locally and globally.

6. Establish connections with local and international organizations specializing in Islamic arts, architecture, and interior design to provide training opportunities for students during their studies and create future employment opportunities for graduates.

7. Support traditional crafts and industries within the local community and build strong partnerships between the Faculty and institutions operating in this field.
