The Department of Basic Sciences was established by Deans Council Resolution No. 1/1/4/4034 dated 9/12/2013 AD, and with the approval of the Ministry of Higher Education Resolution No. (337) dated 7/16/2013, which includes “approval of the separation of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Educational Sciences into two faculties. One of them is the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, of which the Department of Basic Sciences is one of its departments. The name of the department has been changed to the Department of Basic Sciences after it was the Department of General Sciences, which was established at the beginning of the academic year 2011-2012 AD. With the beginning of the second semester, the name of the Department of Basic Sciences was changed to the Department of Services by Deans Council Decision No. 23/2017 AD in its session No. 5/2017 AD on 1/30/2017 AD.

The Department of Academic Services will extend its goals from the general goals of the university to keep pace with scientific and technological development and adapt it to serve the Jordanian society. The department is also keen that the faculty members have a high level of competence and scientific ability, while continuing to develop the plan and study materials. There are currently faculty members in the department in various disciplines, with academic ranks ranging from professor, associate professor, assistant professor, and teacher.

This department is one of the departments of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences that meet the needs of other majors. It aims to teach the courses of the university and the courses of some different faculties that are not home to its departments. These courses include:

• Health and Nutrition
•  The Environment and the Biosphere,
• Sport in our Lives
• in addition to the university’s compulsory and elective courses, starting from the first semester of the academic year 2015/2016.

Preparing students and preparing them well in their various disciplines.

Pioneering in basic sciences and transferring knowledge to students and preparing them in their various disciplines to cover the needs of the labor market in various fields and enrich the local community.

• Improving teaching and teaching skills to achieve quality standards commensurate with community service
• Improving the performance of faculty members to raise efficiency in teaching various subjects.
-Working on developing study plans in a manner commensurate with raising the student's academic level in various fields.
• Working with the university administration to develop the necessary systems that help solve students' problems in some different courses.
-Achieving excellence and contributing to the development of information to raise the scientific level.
-Strengthening the relationship with the local community and its various institutions through holding conferences, seminars and scientific days.
-Encouraging students to volunteer and provide services in various areas of life in the local community inside and outside the university.
-Creating a kind of cooperation and solidarity among university students by establishing a library for the department that includes a set of textbooks and references for the subjects taught in the department.
