Department of Special Education

Management Information Systems (MIS) is a major that introduces students to the computerized systems designed to serve managers in an organization. Management information systems, or what is known as a combination of information technology and management, aim to build technological computer systems that work to help the various institutions carry out their work as well as possible to achieve the best competitive advantage. The department offers an integrated study plan of (132) credit hours that includes courses in various fields at the faculty and department levels and aims to prepare qualified students in management information systems and the operation and management of management information systems in various institutions of the public and private sectors. The establishment of the Department of Management Information Systems at the Faculty of Finance and Business coincided with the establishment of the university at the beginning of the academic year 2008–2009. As this department was affiliated with the Department of Management from an administrative point of view, it was carefully designed to provide graduates with the technical and administrative knowledge and skills necessary to analyze, design, develop, apply, and manage information and information systems in institutions, and thus grant them a bachelor's degree in the field of management information systems. At the beginning of the academic year 2012–2013, the department was separated administratively and became an independent department within the faculty. The department currently has four faculty members who hold a doctorate degree and two who hold a master’s degree. The number of students in the department reached (274) bachelor’s students at the beginning of the first semester of 2020–2021. The department has a group of modern computer laboratories designed to provide the student with applied skills that are used in teaching programming languages such as: (C++, C#, HTML, Oracle Developer 10g, and Android by JAVA) .and the use of supporting software that helps in managing and analyzing projects, databases, networks, information security, and other applied materials.

Vision

The department seeks to graduate students with a management information systems degree, who are trained on the latest innovations in the field of business, whether in theory or practice, in all subjects offered by the specialization, based on the latest practical and scientific innovations. By providing practical training opportunities through the department's materials that focus on the practical and theoretical aspects together to excel in the competitive business environment and introduce appropriate information systems in business organizations in Jordan and the Arab region. The department also seeks to provide students with the most important principles that are related to entrepreneurship and excellence in research fields related to administrative and academic information systems and to encourage the scientific research skills of program students in order to improve their ability to find scientific solutions to various administrative and technical problems, in addition to enhancing the ability of students to obtain suitable job opportunities as faculty members in universities or in administrative work and information technology in the public and private sectors by providing students with technological innovations that enhance the competitiveness of companies in the local, Arab, and international business environment.

Mission

The specialization aims to graduate students of management information systems who have been well prepared to start a successful career in the field of management information systems. The specialization combines the skills gained in many of the various courses offered by the department to reach a graduate capable of contributing effectively to organizations and serving as a source of expertise associated with the application of management information systems to formulate and resolve the problems of information systems in the areas of business management related to their fields by applying the knowledge gained during their experiences acquired in the department and the faculty. The objective of the specialization is also to prepare professional and creative competencies in the field of management information systems to suit the requirements of the labor market. To have a positive impact on the quality of teaching in the field of information systems at the bachelor level in the department, since the faculty member who teaches in the department is familiar with the latest references and research, some of these advantages must be reflected in his teaching of these materials. Provide students with the necessary knowledge and deep understanding of the analysis, design, and development of technological systems and applications to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of processes and to improve performance in business organizations.

  • • Using modern technologies, skills, and tools for the management information systems that are necessary for best practices in the labor market.
  • • Applying decision-making models to administrative business problems facing the labor market.
  • • Building skills that enable students in the department to reduce the gap between the needs of the modern business environment and the opportunities that it can provide.
